The sessions are always tightly planned for the parliamentarians: political debates, negotiations, discussions and votes are on the agenda. But the fun is rarely neglected.

That is why less top-heavy work is always offered. A parallel program consisting of a three-week marathon of events. Jass, jogging and many aperitifs and dinner for example. These opportunities must sometimes serve to look over the edge of the party and to sit down outside parliament with political opponents.

“Ten Shots, The Assault Rifle Is Delivered”

During the summer session, the parliamentary shooting has also been on the agenda for a few years – it is particularly popular with middle-class politicians.

The left is also repeatedly courted. For example, the green politician Aline Trede (39) already participated. This year, her fellow party member Natalie Imboden (52) also tweeted a photo of her invitation. She dismissed them under the heading of “parliamentary absurdities”.

The test setup is relatively simple: Gümligental shooting range at Muri BE, ten shots, two test shots. The assault rifle 90 is provided and dinner is provided.

“Critical size just not reached”

Now the parliamentary shooting, which would have taken place for the seventh time on Tuesday, had to be postponed indefinitely. Reason: The critical size of a dozen people was just not reached, as co-organizer and Central National Councilor Lorenz Hess (61, BE) Blick said. “In addition, on the day of the event, two or three participants still cancel at short notice.”

In addition, a certain amount of infrastructure is required to hold such an event. The kitchen must be put into use, soldiers are on site, Hess explains. It is with a heavy heart that we have therefore decided to cancel the event. But: “Postponed has not been lifted,” says Hess. (Okay)
