For seven years now, the Fundación Otero Pedrayo has dedicated a study day to the monumental literary figure of Don Ramón in April, the month in which the patriarch died on his 88th birthday (Ourense, October 4, 1976). This Saturday, at the Liceo Ourensán, a symposium will be held this April in Otero, and from 11:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. María Victoria Carballo-Calero Ramos, Armando Requeixo, Antón Palacio and Xesús Alonso Montero will perform.
Art professor Carballo-Calero Ramos will explain the meaning of watercolor Or about two catswhich its author, Castelao, gave to Don Ramón in Buenos Aires in 1947 and kept in custody in country house from Trasalba; Armando Requeixo will enter, at first sight without fear, the relationship between the patriarch and the Portuguese writer Ánxel Fole; Professor Antón Palacio will offer us unpublished news about the second volume of the book Or book two friendssome of the sublime works of Don Ramón, who will experience his coronation when the new chapters are collected, and Alonso Montero will comment on the extensive poem of our author, to Estadea (you Pranto Polo Seminary of Galician Studies), which is an elixir poem, of 138 verses, 18 of which are in Latin (or two responses), the famous Galician institution that Franco beheaded and will not see since 1936. It was written by one Otero Pedrayo, president of the seminary, two months after the uprising, but in the late decades to be exhumed.
I have news that the Foundation proposes that the next Oterian Symposium in April be devoted to particularly significant but somewhat unknown works of Don Ramón lletraferits Galician and non-Galician. In my opinion, at first glance it should be that monumental volume published by Otero Pedrayo in 1972 under the title Father Feijoo. His life, doctrine and influencesAlmost eight hundred pages that even today, half a century later, amaze experts on the Spanish eighteenth century with their originality and erudition.
In order to suggest Otterian work, it would be interesting to organize an April symposium on surprising of world art history (Galaxia, 2004), the second less clear book than the giant polygraph that was the xeographer Ramón Otero Pedrayo.
