This is a private event, we have nothing to do with it: this was the reaction of members of the Zurich guild to the publication of the video that Tages-Anzeiger published this week.

The footage shows how members of the guild make fun of blacks and homosexuals at a ball in Zurich, i.e. how a self-proclaimed elite mocks people who regularly face discrimination – according to the motto: Always resign.

Besides the question of why there are people who find this acceptable or even funny, the reaction of the guild members is also annoying. No, racism and homophobia are not a private matter, especially at an event with over 100 guests!

Three days before sentencing

Will the guild members allow them to beat up someone on stage just for fun? No criticism? You don’t want to hope.

In this case, it took the guild representatives three days to denounce the blatant racism. They did so only after the mayor of Zurich denounced defiantly unwilling to have anything to do with it.

Guilds are an invention of the Middle Ages. Apparently, some of their members are stuck there.
