SRF and Ruefer have another problem

Rüfer-Nati-Fans triangular relationship: wouldn’t that be too much?

What is a Swiss? Correct: The one whose government had to bail out two big banks in the last 15 years.

What else do a farmer’s wife from Entlebuch and a football star from Basel have in common? Now it gets interesting. Sascha Rüfer hit his head hard on this question.

He worded his statement about Naty’s captain Granite Jaka so clumsily, so badly, that he could be mistaken for a racist if you didn’t know what he said before and after.

There’s another problem

The old adage applies: racists are stupid. But not every stupid suggestion is racist. Ruefer is not a racist.

The TV man and SRF have another problem: Rüfer is back in the spotlight. After the double-headed eagle case in 2018, a number of situations arose in which the journalist became the main supplier.

Commentator makes TV judge

In SRF, this is facilitated by the fact that he is allowed to appear regularly in the studio, along with host Salzgeber and expert Huggel. The live commentator Ruefer then becomes the television judge Ruefer, who unpacks the two-handed sword with no problem. Which then influences how live commentator Rüfer, who loves to explore the limits, is received.

The triangular relationship between Rüfer, the national team and the TV audience is no longer carefree. Whenever Rüfer comments on the game of men in red and white shirts, everything that has happened in recent years resonates. Will it ever be too much?
