Comment on Bayern’s relegation battle: Celestini himself lacks the humility he requires

There are still seven games left before the league split, with Basel six points behind the top 6. The fact that Fabio Celestini (48) dreams of European business is not entirely unfounded, judging by these figures.

But the Bayern coach wants to do this until reaching the top half of the table becomes mathematically impossible. But if you take out a calculator, it becomes clear that this idea will be more complicated than Celestini would like to believe.

If Bayern maintain their strong scoring average (1.73 points per game) under Celestini, they will still gain twelve points. Even this result is unlikely to be enough to compensate for the six-point gap. However, the journey in the opposite direction is much shorter. The Basel team could return to Barrage Platz next weekend.

If you ask Bayern fans, they’ve written Europe off a long time ago. They would have been pleased to see their team show fight and passion again for more than 90 minutes.

What Celestini has demanded of his players since taking office. Just like humility. Now the BFC coach himself lacks precisely this dignity.
