Davos has been popular with Jewish visitors for over 100 years. During the summer, the Grisons holiday destination is visited by 3,000 Jews from all over the world. It is strange that a global resort still regularly makes negative headlines for offending the Jewish community.
Inappropriate behavior of WEF visitors is almost never a problem, but the behavior of a small group of Orthodox Jews is always a problem. A recent incident where Jews were not allowed to rent sleds at a mountain station because others did not return them, or returned them damaged, or were dressed inappropriately for the activity, casts a bad light on the renter.
Equally worrying is how tourism professionals in Davos are handling the disgraceful boycott. First, the director boasted that a task force had been dealing with relations with Jewish guests for several months. Until it turned out that only mediation was supposed to calm the angry Jewish community after Davos Tourism unilaterally and without any valid reason canceled the dialogue project initiated by the Jews. At Davos, this was supported only sluggishly and sparingly. All the incidents and how they were resolved show that there are many sorcerer students working on the Magic Mountain.
