I have received many letters in response to my last column in which I wrote against the 13th AHV pension. The vast majority of them were old, probably above-average rich people who argued something like: “We are entitled to 13 times the AHV because we also paid AHV out of the 13th month’s salary.” By the same logic, it will now be necessary to introduce an AHV bonus payment for everyone who helped fund AHV with their fat bonuses. Another wrote: “We built a country and created wealth.”
Most of these senders are between 70 and 80 years old and did not serve in World War II or achieve any other distinguished accomplishments. On the contrary, they experienced the heyday of the golden post-war years. They were able to purchase building land and a house at an affordable price. They were able to more or less dictate wages to the employer since there was no free movement of people from the EU yet.
In general, heavenly conditions. Now these people are demanding a 13th pension at the expense of the young.
Unfortunately, greed is spreading among executive branch politicians. When members of the Bern government council consider bananas an expense and invite party colleagues to dinner at taxpayers’ expense, something is wrong. If the Federal Council allows itself GA for skiing and is not prepared to give it up, it should not be surprising that this mentality has reached the common people.
One of the managers succinctly told me: “Quod licet lovi, non licet bovi.” In Russian: What is allowed to Jupiter is not allowed to the bull. This may have been true in ancient Rome as well. In a direct democracy, evidence of such behavior will appear at the ballot box, perhaps as early as March 3.
Here the Bull rules Jupiter, so Jupiter should take a backseat when it comes to his sinecure at the expense of the taxpayer. Otherwise, the bull does the same as Jupiter, namely, takes advantage of other people’s wealth. Which will lead Switzerland into the abyss in the long run.
