Disconnect from reality

There are people who live in glass bubble, far from any contact with reality, engrossed in their cell phone without choosing what they see, or engrossed in movies and novels, suffering from the interpretation of fictitious characters, crying or rejoicing in unreal situations.

There are even people preoccupied with their own trifles, in their own little universe, preoccupied with their supposed illnesses, absurd worries where a scratch from a pet or a piece of clothing stained with coffee is more important than widowhood and orphanhood in that their neighbors are left, now helpless, when the father of the family died. They are more occupied with the drama of the famous singer’s divorce than the family hospitalized which they never take the time to see.

Drama of hunger and helplessness of millions of people. Because if these types of people, who can have important positions at all levels of society, or simply live in neighborhoods where they have a certain influence, be it much or little, and they can do something, they don’t do it, they are partly the cause of the pain in the world. . Because if everyone took into account the extent of action they have in the opportunity, in solidarity with others, this world would change.

The indifference to human painnot being a good Samaritan in front of the drama of others, thinking only about one’s own things, closing in on oneself, besides impoverishing people humanly, it prevents the possibility of exchanging resources, better sharing the goods of society and making this world a better place to live.

It is not shared rational, just, charitable way, the goods that God has given us with those who need them, is actually the theft of resources that belong to God himself, and which he has given us to manage. We are not absolute owners of earthly goods; nobody is.

Only God is. Blessed be the Lord who gave us intelligence and energy, special gifts to acquire goods and dispose of them well within the framework of private property.

But according to him the gospel, seeing the poor man who is hungry or thirsty, without clothes, sick, in prison, suffering from loneliness or any other disease, and not caring about it is the contempt of the same Christ who is in them. On the other hand, helping them according to our abilities guarantees our salvation through the Lord himself. It is clear in the Word: “Come with me because I was hungry, because I was thirsty…”.

It is a matter of sensitivity, putting yourself in the shoes of the one who is suffering, asking yourself what I would like to have done to me if I were in such circumstances.
