High rents make it difficult to find an apartment after a breakup – Meyer advises: move to a nice place

Move to where you can find two inexpensive apartments. You will have no choice but to expand your search.

Thanks to the unscrupulous real estate companies and their volunteers in Parliament! They have recently put forward several parliamentary initiatives specifically aimed at undermining the rental law. Protections against dismissal have just been significantly weakened, Parliament has also rejected a proposal to prevent wrongful returns through controls, and the duty to provide information about rent advances is due to be scrapped soon.

People with normal incomes like you, who have overpaid by more than ten billion francs in 2022 alone due to inflated rents, are having to pay for it – and they cannot find an affordable apartment. This is not due to “excessive immigration,” as far-right politicians like to claim, but rather, quite simply, due to the boundless greed of the real estate lobby and its cronies.

“His drinking became intolerable.”

You will have no choice but to expand your search area to include outlying areas such as Schwamendingen or agglomeration communities such as Dietikon or Uster. Of course, it’s not as sexy as Zurich-Widicon, and changing schools is definitely not fun for your kids. But a couple who really wants to break up is even less funny.

Don’t do this to keep your kids together. The mood between you probably hasn’t been good for a long time, and this is not only unbearable for the children in the present, but also puts a strain on their future, because they learn from you that relationships are something tiresome and joyless – and they will learn about this later and are more likely to reproduce because they consider it normal.

Move to a nice place where you can find two affordable apartments, become a member of the residents’ association and exercise your right to vote for a more social Switzerland.
