The Eternit factory with 80 employees will be closed.

Building materials manufacturer Swisspearl’s Eternit factory in Payerne VD is about to collapse. The group wants to move production to its headquarters in Niederurnen GL and location in Slovenia.

The end of production at Payerne will likely affect 80 employees. The company confirmed a report in the “24 hours” and “La Liberté” newspapers on Thursday. All employees would be offered the opportunity to fill an equivalent position at Niederurnen. Therefore, only sales to western Switzerland, where around 20 people work at Payerne, will remain.
