In a statement released Wednesday, the Swedish furniture company announced that Jessica Anderen in the Netherlands will head the Ikea Foundation on New Year’s Day. Anders has been president of Ikea Switzerland since autumn 2019. During the corona pandemic in 2021, IKEA Switzerland achieved the highest turnover in its 50-year history thanks to rapidly increasing online orders.
Anderen has previously worked for Ikea for over 30 years in countries such as China, Singapore, Australia and India.
He now takes over the management of the Ikea Foundation in Leiden, Netherlands. The foundation aims to improve the lives of children in need by helping their families build a sustainable livelihood and combat the effects of climate change. The Ikea Foundation funds projects worldwide by more than 147 partners such as UNHCR, Save the Children, Climate Works and the Rainforest Alliance.
On an interim basis, Marco Ruina will take over ongoing projects from the others until a successor is found as managing director of Ikea Switzerland. As Market Area Manager, Ruina is currently responsible for the smooth running of all Ikea furniture stores in Switzerland. (pbe/SDA)
