As expected, Republican Ron DeSantis (44) will announce his presidential candidacy on Wednesday. But the framework this should be is very specific: According to several reports, DeSantis wants to formalize the 2024 presidential election in a chat with Twitter boss Elon Musk (51) on Twitter.
The Republican will thus challenge Democrat and incumbent President Joe Biden (80). The event is scheduled to start at 18:00 local time (midnight CEST).
According to polls, the 44-year-old conservative radical is currently the most promising Republican candidate alongside former President Donald Trump (76). Trump had already announced in November that he would enter the race for the presidential nomination. DeSantis has been the governor of the southern US state of Florida since early 2019.
