You can only pay cash at Coop

Anyone wanting to pay by card or Twint at Coop stores looked old on Monday. Unless he still has a need or a coin in his trouser pocket or bag. Because: It was no longer possible to pay by card. Reason: a technical malfunction.

Coop spokesperson Rebecca Veiga confirmed the outage on demand. He told Blick that it’s not possible to pay by card at Coop anywhere in Switzerland. Coop is working straight on to fix the problem.

Gas stations are working

Just before the lunch break – at 11.45 – Coop still hasn’t cleared things up. It was said: Take your wallet with you to buy sandwiches and salads.

Nothing worked at Coop stores, even after work. Coop Pronto gas station stores, Coop Vitality and Bodyshop pharmacies are not affected by the outage. Online stores should work too.

The air in the branches was tense. Because it’s not the first time Coop has had problems with card payments. A lot of sales are lost in such cases – and the staff is busy apologizing to customers and putting the goods back.

“Late that night, our experts were able to fix the problem,” Veiga tells Blick. We waited until morning to see if the system was actually working again. Now this is the case.
