Roman Studer will replace Jörg Gasser, the Swiss Bankers Association announced on Wednesday. The board of directors voted for him unanimously. Since August Benz won’t take the job until early August, he will continue to lead the business as interim Deputy CEO until then. Gasser announced his resignation at the end of January.
Studer joined the banking association from UBS. He is currently the Head of Swiss State Affairs. In this role, he has been responsible for all UBS-related regulatory and economic policy development in Switzerland since 2018. Prior to that, he headed the “UBS Center for Economics in Society” research center at the University of Zurich.
