Conflicting parties in Sudan have agreed on a new ceasefire. Following the army, paramilitary RSF militias also confirmed that the ceasefire, which ended at midnight on Thursday evening, will be extended by 72 hours. This was accepted on the initiative of the USA and Saudi Arabia.
The 72-hour ceasefire negotiated between the two countries has been in effect since Tuesday, but has not been implemented. According to eyewitnesses, the conflict continued.
In Sudan, army units led by military leader Abdel Fattah al-Burhan have been fighting RSF militias led by his deputy, Mohammed Hamdan Daglo, for nearly two weeks. According to Sudan’s Ministry of Health, more than 500 people have died in conflicts so far. (AFP)
