According to the Federal Office of Agriculture (FOAG), the Swiss population drank 237 million liters of wine last year, which is 18 million liters, or 7 percent less than in 2021. Of these, 153.5 million liters were red wine and 83.7 million liters were white wine. It was announced on Thursday.

Last year, red wine was drunk 8 percent less and white wine 5 percent less. The decline in Swiss wines was 2.8 percent in total compared to 2021, while it was 9.4 percent in foreign wines. The market share of Swiss wines thus rose to 37 percent.

Swiss wine stocks were in good shape as of December 31, 2022, thanks to last year’s bountiful harvest, according to FOAG.
