Suissedigital members had sold a total of approximately 8.37 million subscriptions by the end of 2022, the industry association said on Monday. That’s about 150,000 more than the previous year.
But in the television business, subscriptions fell 7,200 to 2.12 million. According to the report, Suissedigital members continued to be Swisscom’s market leader by far, with 1.57 million TV subscribers sold. With less than 150,000 television subscriptions, Salt ranks third by a wide margin.
On the other hand, the number of broadband internet customers increased by 34,500 and reached 1.76 million. Even stronger growth was in mobile communications, from 139,500 to 3.24 million, while fixed line subscriptions fell by 19,000.
Managing Director Simon Osterwalder said in a statement that 2022 was a successful year overall for the association and its members. “I am particularly pleased with the growth in mobile communications as internet usage continues to shift to smartphones.”
Since the merger of Sunrise and UPC in 2020, Sunrise customers have also become members of the Cable Network Operators Association. In total, Suissedigital consists of approximately 180 private and public companies that, according to information, provide radio, TV, internet, telephone and other communication services to more than 3 million home and business units.
