Travel company LM Group went red in 2022 over alleged fraud in the payment of Corona aid.

Specifically, the group made a loss of 15.1 million euros in 2022, as announced on Thursday. The reason for the minus was the provisions of 34 million euros for the possible repayment of the corona short-time working compensation, which was allegedly wrongfully received. According to the information obtained, if this negative effect had not been present, a plus of 17.2 million euros would have stood out.

At the beginning of February, the company reported that sales had doubled in 2022 to reach 305 million euros, only 33 million short of the pre-crisis level in 2019. As a result, adjusted operating profit (EBITDA) of 37.7 million was twice as high as the previous year.

The short-time working allowance received will now be paid in the current year. However, it is not yet clear what the conditions are.

Last summer, a number of senior executives, including former boss Fabio Cannavale, were jailed for alleged fraud with Corona funds. Laura Amoretti, who was appointed interim CEO, was also later under suspicion. As a result, Last minute set personal tabula rasa and replaced the fallible management team in December.

The online travel group is best known for travel and vacation deals on last minute.com. The group also includes other travel brands such as Volagratis, Rumbo, weg.de, Bravofly, Jetcost and Hotelscan.
