Kapers President Sandrine Nikolic-Fuss is disappointed with the former employee’s fraud.

Breach of trust at Swiss cabin crew union Kapers: A former employee has been embezzled. There should be some in the middle of the six figures. The perpetrator confessed and has been in custody since mid-February. The financial irregularities were discovered after the perpetrator left office last summer.

Kapers President Sandrine Nikolic-Fuss (53) is ecstatic. “We are very sorry that one of our own employees cheated on us. We cannot accept this, and we will do everything we can to get the lost money back from the accused to the last penny.”

Nikolic-Fuss is not allowed to elaborate on the case because some points are still being debated and the case is not expected until the end of the year. Kapers will delve deeper into the entire case. Among other things, an internal audit is carried out. “We analyze what went wrong,” says Nikolic-Fuss. Internal processes are being restarted, negotiations are being held with banks so that nothing like this will happen again. Kapers also decided to change its external financial services provider.

No financial problems for Kapers

Nikolic-Fuss also attaches great importance to Kapers’ financial “always being able to act”. Both the club treasury and the separately managed, “pristine” strike treasury are still in good standing. In an association with 2500 members and financed by membership fees, it is noteworthy that a six-digit gap in the middle can easily be closed. “Like many traditional Swiss associations, we are very well funded and have sufficient reserves to deal with a case like this,” Nikolic-Fuss reassures.

This is important as further negotiations on a new GAV are pending at Kapers. Such a plan was agreed in December, but was rejected by members in February.
