Brittney Griner’s memoir scheduled for publication in 2024

US basketball player Brittney Griner (32) will write a book about her ten months in captivity in Russia. Griners Verlag Alfred A. Knopf announced on Tuesday that the star actor will describe his “difficult and surreal time” and “the gruesome aspects of everyday life in a penal colony for women.” The hitherto unnamed memories should surface in the first half of next year.

Replaced by Wiktor But

Griner was sentenced to nine years in prison for drug trafficking by a Russian court in early August 2022, and was then released in December in a spectacular prisoner swap. The 32-year-old woman was detained in Russia for a total of about ten months after e-cigarette cartridges containing small amounts of cannabis oil were found at Moscow’s Sheremetyevo Airport in February 2022.

The two-time Olympic gold medalist described her arrest as the beginning of an “incredible chapter” in her life that she is only now able to share with the public. Griner’s prison sentence ended only when the United States in return freed notorious Russian arms dealer Viktor But (56). (AFP)
