Now it’s clear how the new Toblerone packaging will look without the Matterhorn! A fictional, or at least unknown, mountain adorns the cult chocolate now available in Swiss stores. The slogan “Swiss made” also disappeared. Because: With the opening of the production site in Bratislava, Slovakia, Toblerone chocolate no longer meets the strict Swiss criteria. This leads to changes in the packaging. The Matterhorn is history.
From July, the sweet chocolate triangle will no longer be produced exclusively in Switzerland. It has been known since June 2022 that the Mondelez Group, which produces Toblerone today, will partially produce the famous chocolate in Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia. From autumn, smaller Toblerone products in 35 gram and 50 gram formats will be produced in Bratislava.
90 million chocolates
The reason for this is that the chocolate factory in Bern-Brünnen has reached its capacity limits. However, as said, the place of production will remain. Classic 100 gram chocolates are still made in Switzerland. Even the Bern site is being expanded. The group wants to be able to produce 90 million 100 grams of additional chocolate per year.
