Zurich Airport survived the Corona crisis in the 2022 fiscal year. As a result, profit was made again and dividend payment will continue. As Zurich Airport announced on Tuesday, revenue in the 2022 fiscal year rose 50 percent to CHF 1.02 billion, thanks to the sharp increase in passenger numbers from the previous year. The pre-crisis level for fiscal 2019 was therefore almost 20 percent below earnings.
At EBITDA, operating profit nearly doubled to CHF 556 million. The result was a net profit of 207 million francs, after minus 10 million francs in 2021 and 69 million francs in 2020, again thanks to positive special effects.
The shareholders will be offered to distribute a total of CHF 3.50 per share. It consists of a regular dividend of CHF 2.40 and a special payment of CHF 1.10 per share. Dividend payments were previously suspended for three years. The numbers were better than analysts expected.
The airport operator expects the number of passengers to increase to 26 million for the current year. They say net profit should continue to rise despite the continued challenging environment. (SDA)
