The expectation for the new Moonswatch from Swatch and Omega was great. It was time yesterday Tuesday evening – the first interested parties were able to buy the watch at the Paradeplatz in Zurich. The new cheap Omega is a remake of the Moonswatch “Mission to the Moon” and has a gold hand. Therefore, the watch costs 275 francs, 25 francs more than the previous models.
Gold Moonswatch is available for multiple people online just a few hours after its launch. Watch fans will likely dig deep into their pockets as the edition is limited and the watch is only available in select locations and for a few days at the moment. Prices on ordinary sales platforms range from 1,000 to 4,000 francs.
Hype paid off for Swatch
The previous eleven models have already been a hit. Its prices have dropped steadily over the past few months, but it’s still 50 to 150 francs more expensive than before, even a year after its launch on comparison platforms.
Moonswatches is not just a good business for sellers. The cheap strategy has also worked for Swatch and Omega. More than one million Moonswatch watches were sold in 2022. And after the lunar watch craze, the entire Speedmaster collection of the Omega brand attracted more attention, for example, with lunar watch models.
