Housing shortage and rapidly rising rents are on everyone’s lips. But living space is not scarce everywhere: even cheap apartments in some regions have not been able to find buyers for a long time. According to the “SonntagsZeitung”, the currently cheapest four-bedroom apartment advertised in Switzerland is located in Perrefitte near Moutier in the Bernese Jura.
It costs 570 francs plus 125 francs additional cost per month. There is a parking lot for only 35 francs. The apartment even has a fireplace! According to the responsible real estate company, the property has been vacant for five months. There is no tenant in sight. The fact that the first rent is free also does not attract those who are interested.
Far from a ghost village
Perrefitte isn’t that far off. It is a 30-minute drive from Biel. An hour and a half to Zurich. Of course the apartment is out of date. The kitchen is from the 1980s.
