The reason is a technical malfunction between Zweisimmen and Interlaken Ost, as the railway companies BLS and MOB explained. The exact cause of the malfunction will be clarified. The route between Zweisimmen and Interlaken Ost will be covered by other BLS trains for now.
“Goldenpass Express’ trains have not been running nonstop since Sunday morning,” BLS spokeswoman Tamara Traxler said when asked by the Keystone-SDA news agency on Tuesday. He did not give further details as to why.
Goldenpass Express began non-transfer operations with a ceremony in December 2022. A long cherished dream for tourism professionals and train enthusiasts has come true: a permanent connection between the hotspots on Lake Geneva and the Bernese Oberland.
This was not possible for a hundred years because trains between Montreux and Zweisimmen run narrow gauge, while between Zweisimmen and Interlaken they use the standard track.
