Biggest Swiss companies post fewer jobs

Is this already the reversal of the lamented shortage of skilled workers? The first signs point to this. Specifically, the websites of the 50 largest Swiss companies were looking for staff for 9,700 positions in mid-February.

When the job postings regularly made by Indeed job portal for the AWP news agency are evaluated, it is seen that the number of open positions decreased by 2.5 percent in a month. In the previous month, the number of positions posted was still over 9,900.

There were still 12,000 jobs in August

This confirms a longer-term trend: more than 10,000 job postings were posted on company websites in November, over 11,000 in October, and over 12,000 in August last year. Thomas Kaiser, responsible for the Swiss market at the job portal Indeed, speaks of a high level of stability, as the company has over 9000 vacancies for three months.

It is noteworthy that companies operating in the retail trade now need less personnel than in the fall: The number of open positions announced on the websites of both Migros Group and the Cooperative is less. The same can be said for the Manor.

High demand interns

The number of job postings companies are seeking for working students or interns has increased in recent weeks, according to Indeed analysis. On the other hand, the need for human resources specialists and IT specialists is apparently declining. (pbe/SDA)
