At the beginning of February, it was learned that Daniel Cassani, 62, the long-time bartender of the popular touring restaurant Vorderer Pfannenstiel above Zurich’s Gold Coast, had given up on begging. He complained of a lack of skilled workers and the difficulty of finding staff for the relatively remote restaurant above Miles ZH.
The board of the restaurant’s owner, Restaurant Pfannenstiel AG, was unexpectedly surprised when tenant Daniel Cassani closed the business. But with Cassani’s help, a solution was found, as Blick was able to find out. Gilles Moser (45), currently the host of the Grütli restaurant in Hinteregg ZH, will become the new tenant of Vorderer Pfannenstiel on May 1, 2023.
The restaurant will remain closed throughout April as Cassani will be leaving at the end of March.
staff can stay
The Management Board of the Restaurant Pfannenstiel AG is very relieved. The restaurant will continue “with mostly the same staff and in a similar style”.
How did these amazing events happen? Gilles Moser leads the kitchen team from Grütli to the Vorderer Pfannenstiel restaurant. The new head chef Pietro Cavallo is currently working in the same position at Grütli. “Gilles Moser has a network built over the years,” says spokesperson Barbara Eisl. Now he can count on it for more recruiting.
Moser is already prepared for the kitchen. Eisl confirmed that most current employees in the service and office will continue to work at Vorderer Pfannenstiel in the future.
