Half the cost of Ricola in Thailand

Everything is getting more and more expensive, including Ricola herb sweets. “Zältli” has cost five inches more at the kiosk since January 1: 3.35 francs per pack. At Migros, which is slightly cheaper, 50 grams of Ricola costs 2.95 francs, at Coop a double pack is 3.95 francs. This offer also looks expensive: In remote Thailand, Ricola cost half that.

The largest online store in the country, Lazada, sells a 40-gram package for 35 baht, which is 95 centimeters at the current exchange rate. At 7-11, the Thai equivalent of the buffet even included a free package in its regular price of 38 baht (1.05 francs). The fact that Swiss products are cheaper abroad, like cheese, is nothing new. But half price?

In the Thai supermarket, for example, Big C, natural herbal sweets from Switzerland are 48 baht, 1.30 francs. Converted to net weight, that’s still half the price in Switzerland. These are definitely not premature candies. The BigC shopping portal assures that the 1 franc Lazada Ricola is available until 7 April 2024.

Migros and Coop also announce price increases

Meanwhile, food prices in Switzerland continue to rise. “SonntagsZeitung” reports that Migros and Coop have also turned the cost screw again. Milk and butter are getting expensive again.

At the beginning of the year, not only did sugar and gum prices rise in Swiss kiosks, but drinks and beer were also more expensive. K kiosk operator Valora explained that on behalf of all retailers, the increase in prices was due to rising electricity and logistics costs. “Like other companies in the industry, we pass this on to customers,” said a spokesperson.

This raises the question of why electricity and logistics are not reflected in Thai Ricola prices. Inflation is also having a serious effect on the kingdom. Electricity, food or transportation: the cost of living is getting more and more expensive. But Ricola is still available for a bargain.
