Coop achieves strong sales growth in 2022

Coop had total sales of 34.2 billion francs last year. In the statement made on Thursday, this corresponds to a huge increase of 7.3 percent from the previous year.

The growth of the cooperative group was mainly due to two factors: retail on the one hand and wholesale and manufacturing on the other. Net sales in retail increased by 1.6 percent to 19.9 billion Swiss francs. However, inflation, which is now on everyone’s lips, hasn’t left Coop customers unaffected. It was 1.2 percent excluding fuel.

No new registrations in supermarkets

Looking at supermarkets alone, net sales were 11.6 billion Swiss francs. It was just under previous record years that Coop benefited greatly from the conditions caused by the corona pandemic. However, Coop sold significantly more than in 2019 before Corona.

Looking ahead, Coop expects a stable result for 2023 due to strong competition and associated price cuts. (SDA/kae)
