According to Switzerland Tourism, this is reflected in the first indicative holiday survey among tourism professionals. Especially mountainous areas became popular again as holiday destinations.
Tourism offers in the mountains have been partially booked up to the capacity limit, the industry organization said on Tuesday. After a strong last year, reservations remained stable in the highlands. The return of foreign guests has contributed to the increase in overnight stays throughout Switzerland.
However, the survey shows a decline in day trips (-3%). Given the rain, spring weather, and lack of snow, the desire for winter sports trips is likely to have vanished.
The survey also showed that reservations tended to be made short on time during the given period, pointing to uncertainty over a possible power outage, high inflation rate or “Christmas meltdown.” However, the need for vacations and excursions predominated, and therefore the unfavorable framework conditions did not have a noticeable effect.
