Guess which old movie was the most popular among Swiss people?

Most Swiss people sit at home in front of the TV almost every day. Especially now, when it gets dark quickly in the evenings and the weather is often terrible, TV must be very popular. So what programs and movies do Swiss people watch? Telecommunications company Swisscom evaluated the behavior of its subscribers with some surprising results.

Statistics include data from December 1, 2021 to November 30, 2022. A viewer must have watched a program for more than 10 minutes. Focused on classic TV with live broadcasts, replays and recordings. With approximately 1.6 million Blue TV customers, Swisscom figures give a good picture of TV behavior in the Swiss living room.

Ticino people love to have fun

Particularly striking: tastes vary by language region. Documentaries and magazines get the most airtime in German-speaking countries with 24 percent. In French and Italian-speaking Switzerland, information and political programs are at the top of the podium with shares of 22 percent and 21 percent.

With 20 percent of watch time, Italian viewers also clearly prefer entertainment programs – compared to 14 percent (German) and 16 percent (French). Swisscom points out that this is not just about preferences, but different offers in language regions also play a role.
