In the future, employees of Facebook group Meta should no longer discuss controversial political issues such as abortion, gun control, or the effectiveness of vaccines while at work. This was reported by “Fortune” magazine in the USA with reference to the internal instruction of Meta HR Manager Lori Goler.
According to the report, Goler writes in an internal forum that the company has introduced new rules to all employees that dictate discussions deemed appropriate in the workplace. “As (Company founder) Mark (Zuckerberg) recently mentioned, we need to make a number of cultural changes that will help us meet our priorities,” Goler said.

This is associated with the disadvantage that any expression of opinion will no longer be allowed in the workplace. “We believe this is the right thing for the long-term health of our internal community.”
A meta spokesperson explained that it’s an update to previous internal guidelines on the subject, which apply worldwide. Meta places great emphasis on the expression of ideas, open discussion and a corporate culture based on respect and inclusion.

“We have updated our employee expectations to reflect what is appropriate for our employees at work. This allows us to reduce distractions while maintaining an environment that is respectful, inclusive and where employees can do their best.”
Meta leadership has repeatedly been accused of supporting a particular political camp and manipulating Facebook news feed algorithms accordingly. Republicans in the US House of Representatives accused Facebook of suppressing reports of possible abuse of US President Joe Biden’s son, Hunter Biden. (SDA)
