Fewer trams and buses in VBZ

The transport company of the city of Zurich (VBZ) still lacks tram and bus drivers. Therefore, VBZ will have to cancel lines and increase the distances between services next year.

The new offer reductions take effect on January 9 and are expected to be valid until spring, as VBZ announced on Tuesday. Tram line number 15 will be removed from use. Line 17 will also be canceled in the evening and on Sunday.

Wait no longer for the bus

Also, many bus lines are increasing the service intervals, so the next bus takes longer to arrive. The causes of staff shortages are sickness-related absences and increased worker shortages.

Although the VBZ has already increased its recruitment of new staff, it seems that this is not enough. The adjustments in the proposal are sad, write the VBZ. “We are doing everything we can to mitigate the situation.”

As individual tram lines are completely idle and many bus connections are less frequent, VBZ recommends checking the timetable online in advance. (pbe/SDA)
