DEF 2023 is all about the Ukrainian war and its consequences. “Cooperation in a divided world” is its motto. There is no “good news” for 2023, according to WEF Director Alois Zwinggi at an information event at Davos GR. As reported by “Südostschweiz”, it was “a tough brew” that summed up the world situation.
By this he means more than the energy issue. But there are also issues such as high inflation, food crises or geopolitical risks. “There are a lot of pain points,” Zwinggi says. “There is no good news for 2023.”
No cooperation with the Russians
It is not yet clear which personalities from the political and business world, as well as celebrities, will take part in the DEF. But what is certain is that an official Russian delegation will not be invited to the World Economic Forum in 2023 either. “There is still no cooperation with Russia,” says Zwinggi.
It is quite possible that the Chinese will breach. “Südostschweiz”, it is assumed that China will take down the “Covid wall” and send a government delegation back to Davos.
“Stay in Davos”
DEF also announced that it remains committed to the site. “We want to stay at Davos,” says Zwinggi. If the infrastructure is suitable. In other words, adequate hotel rooms are provided for DEF guests and staff. “As long as this works and we like it, we’ll stay at Davos.” (be)
