Italian star designer Alessandro Michele (49) has left luxury fashion house Gucci. “With her groundbreaking creativity, Michele played a fundamental role in making the brand what it is today,” French group Kering, which owns the Italian luxury brand, said Wednesday.

“There are times when paths diverge because of the different perspectives everyone has,” the creative director explained. According to the industry magazine Women’s Wear Daily, the designer left the company after being asked to organize a creative renewal of the brand.
Michele has been Gucci’s creative director since 2015, helping the once-sick company thrive. Recently, however, industry insiders’ enthusiasm for his creations has waned.
“Gucci is suffering from brand fatigue because Michelle has been doing the same thing for seven years,” said US analytics firm Bernstein. (AFP)
