Around 1.6 million people worldwide work at Amazon, and most of them work in the online retail giant’s fulfillment centers. The department, which deals with voice assistant Alexa, smart Echo speakers and artificial intelligence applications, is particularly affected by the cuts. According to the estimations of people in the industry, this field is running short. So far, Amazon leadership’s expectations that online orders will increasingly be processed via Alexa and an Echo device have yet to be met.
