Siemens made billions of dollars in profit

After a strong fourth quarter, profitability is up by €4.4 billion, as the company announced on Thursday in Munich. In the new financial year, which has been running since October, Siemens again wants to earn significantly more.

The central industrial enterprise at Siemens even worked at record levels. Siemens earned more than 10 billion euros there. Profit fell 34 percent mainly because of the billion-dollar depreciation of the remaining shares of Siemens Energy, the listed energy business two years ago.

It even hurt the group in the first quarter in more than a decade. However, the withdrawal from Russia also negatively affected the business world.

However, sales rose by almost 16 percent in nominal terms to 72 billion euros. Shareholders will also not be bothered by the drop in profits: the dividend will increase by 25 cents per share to €4.25.

Siemens boss Roland Busch spoke of an “extremely challenging year” and “an outstanding performance”. He emphasized that Siemens is gaining market share and that high demand for the group’s hardware and software offerings continues. In the fourth quarter of the year, everything was fine at Siemens with a huge profit of 2.9 billion euros.

For this year, Siemens expects a significant increase in profits. Adjusted for specific purchase price effects, it should increase from EUR 8.70 to EUR 9.20 per share. That would be an increase of 59 to 68 percent – from 5.47 euros per share last year.
