Twitter boss Musk now calls for ‘hard use’

Twitter employees are going through a turbulent time. The chaos surrounding the new blue tick, mass layoffs, including reemployment, and new rumors every day keep text messaging service workers on their toes.

Now busy boss Elon Musk (51) is pouring new oil on the fire. According to insiders, he sent out an email last week urging employees to fully commit to the new strategy. Anyone who doesn’t want to bring it will be fired.

Huge pressure on employees

In the email, Musk urged employees to be 100 percent committed to the new strategy and make “core effort” towards it. At the end of the letter was a link with the phrase: “If you’re completely behind the new Twitter, then click here.” Those who did not click on the link until last Thursday evening were terminated with a three-month notice period.

Musk then explains in the email what exactly “hard use” means. Employees would have to account for long and busy working days. But that’s not all. The Twitter boss only added to the pressure, saying the “outstanding performance” was enough for him.

The new Twitter boss was even more specific in a speech he gave to the workforce a few days ago: Musk is said to have explained that employees must be ready to work 80 hours a week.

home office removed

A while ago, Musk threatened to repeal the home office rule. This is now a reality. Those who are fully committed to the new strategy are also giving up on the option to work from home.

Working from home has long been a thorn in Musk. Its other companies SpaceX and Tesla have already removed this option. Every Musk employee should spend at least 40 hours a week in the office or at work.

More than half of the 7,000 Twitter employees have now lost their jobs and the migration continues. Musk’s tough leadership is pushing more and more top people to quit.
