Musk sells Tesla shares for $4 billion

Tesla boss Elon Musk (51) has sold nearly four billion dollars of shares in the electric car maker. This emerges from documents from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on Tuesday. Accordingly, Musk sold 19 million shares.

Musk is one of the founders of Tesla and one of the richest people in the world. At the end of October, after a month-long stalemate, the online service took over Twitter for nearly $44 billion. The 51-year-old Tesla had already sold $15.5 billion worth of shares.

Critics fear that Musk could greatly limit the fight against the spread of hate speech and fake news on Twitter. Those fears were fueled by the layoffs of nearly half of the Twitter workforce last week. Musk recently announced on Twitter that he wants to focus more on a paid subscription model. It wants to make the platform more independent of advertising revenues. (SDA)
