Waking up in the Swiss mountains on a Friday morning is like a winter fairy tale. Everything is covered with snow. Meanwhile, the ski areas are working straight to open. Three ski regions have already opened winter operations.
At Zermatt VS, ski enthusiasts can already overcome the slopes. At the Breuil-Cervinia ski area in the Matterhorn, 13 of the 51 chairlifts are operational.
The Titlis ski area in Engelberg OW is open. The ski resort Saas-Fee VS is also open. All three ski areas have glacier access. This makes snow fun at these ski areas easy.
More ski areas to open in November
Two more ski areas open on Saturday. Schilthorn in the Bernese Oberland and Diavolezza in Engadin GR. Snow conditions are great. On Friday morning, Blick received dozens of messages and images from the canton of Graubünden. Snow falls to 1100 meters above sea level.
In November, ten other ski regions distributed throughout Switzerland announced that they would open their lifts and cable cars for winter operation. On 12 November comes the turn of the Gemsstock ski area in Andermatt in the Canton of Uri.
This was followed by Glacier 3000 in the Bernese Oberland, Parsenn in Davos/Klosters GR, 4 Valées in the canton of Valais, Ischgl in Samnaun GR, Corviglia GR, Laax/Flims GR, Engadin GR Corvatsch, Grimentz VS and on November 26 Elsigen- Metschch opens in the Bernese Oberland. Other areas will follow in December.
