Mateschitz’s successor comes from Red Bull football team

This staffing decision comes as a surprise: In search of a new big boss at energy drink giant Red Bull, the billion-dollar company uses its own football department.

According to “Bild”, Oliver Mintzlaff will replace Red Bull founder Dietrich Mateschitz. The 47-year-old German is currently the managing director of RB Leipzig.

Mateschitz’s wish

As the newspaper further reports, Mintzlaff will take over as one of three new general managers at Red Bull. Must be responsible for “Corporate Projects and Investments” in the company. Concretely, this means that all of the shower brand’s sporting commitments (football teams, Formula 1 teams and other sponsorships) fall within Mintzlaff’s domain.

The three-man successor at the head of Red Bull was therefore the wish of Mateschitz’s son, Didi Mateschitz, and the Thai owners. (cat)
