Climeworks, a company specializing in CO₂ extraction and storage, has signed a contract with Danish manufacturer Lego to extract carbon dioxide from the air. The contract is for nine years and worth $2.4 million.
The Zurich-based company reached a similar agreement with Danish investment firm Kirkbi for $405,000, Climeworks announced Tuesday.
The Zurich branch of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, which employs about 200 people, has developed air filter technology that can capture carbon dioxide and then store it underground. Climeworks also signed a Swiss-related contract at the beginning of March. (SDA)
