Exit on Twitter

Elon Musk (51) bought Twitter and took control. First official action: The tech billionaire fired Chief Executive Officer Parag Agrawal (38) and Chief Financial Officer Ned Segal (45). This is reported by US media such as the Wall Street Journal.

Twitter spokespersons did not comment. It was not immediately clear who would occupy the top positions on Twitter.

This is what Musk has to say about the acquisition

Musk finalized the purchase on Thursday after a lot of back and forth shopping. The reason I bought Twitter is because having a common digital marketplace where a wide range of beliefs can be healthily discussed is important to the future of civilization, without which there would be violence.”

Musk continues: “There is a great danger right now that social media is splitting into right-wing and left-wing echo chambers, which will fuel even more hatred and divide our society.”

He wants to help humanity

He didn’t buy Twitter “because it was easy” or “because he wanted more money” – his “philanthropy” was much more behind his purchase of the platform, he continues. “I did it to try to help the people I love.” (EU)
