Yeast belongs in every kitchen. But as many Blick readers have reported, this versatile product for baking has long been unavailable in major retailers in Switzerland.
Migros and Coop are telling the truth. “Due to increased maintenance and revision work at the manufacturer, our organic cube yeast and conventional yeast are currently available in limited quantities,” a Migros spokesperson told Blick. You can switch to liquid yeast or dry yeast.
Migros has an alternative product
Coop also has a shortage of organic yeast. «Organic fresh yeast cannot currently be produced at the desired quality. “That’s why it’s temporarily unavailable,” says a spokesperson. He promises: “We are currently working on an alternative so that we can offer organic fresh yeast to our customers again as soon as possible.”
Migros went one step further: The orange giant temporarily added an imported product to its product range. You can find the “Fresh Baking Yeast 42gr” product at Migros branches.
It is unclear when the yeast shortage will be resolved. (nim)
