Traditional toy manufacturer Franz Carl Weber (FCW) was treated badly! The Black Basta hacker gang claims to have stolen over 700 gigabytes of sensitive data from the company via the Darknet, according to an “Inside IT” report.

Not all data has been published yet. But Black Basta had already provided some examples: passports, identity cards, wage declarations, apprenticeship contracts or family allowance applications, all belonging to FCW employees, are already visible. The full dataset will be released next week if FCW fails to meet ransom demands, which have not been discussed in more detail.

German pharmacy chain Müller, which FCW has owned since last summer, confirmed the cyberattack. Those affected have already been notified. FCW takes the attack extremely seriously. But the company has yet to respond to how this happened, what ransom demands were made, or whether FCW even wants to respond to them.

Just a week ago it became known that Black Basta also attacked the Swiss recruitment agency Das Team AG. In May 2023, Black Basta also launched an attack on ABB.
