No moving away from Ticino: Manor plans to strengthen its locations in Ascona, Bellinzona, Biasca, Locarno, Lugano and Vezia.

Two Manor stores are expected to close. The affected locations are Balerna (Mendrisio) and Sant’Antonino (Bellinzona), with 55 and 49 employees respectively, a spokesperson announced Thursday, at the request of the AWP news agency. Most work part time. The daily newspaper “Corriere del Ticino” had previously reported on this issue.

Manor is committed to continuing to employ its employees at other locations in the area, if possible. A consultation phase is currently underway. There will be a social plan.

Other Manor locations in Ticino are being retrofitted

By the way, the closure does not mean moving away from the region: According to the spokesperson, the department store chain plans to expand its range of products and services by strengthening its Ascona, Bellinzona, Biasca, Locarno, Lugano and Vezia locations. A new Manor store will also open in Grancia (Lugano) on March 1, 2024.

Manor Group has 59 department stores, 27 food supermarkets and 23 restaurants. The company is represented all over the country and, according to its information, employs approximately 7,500 people. (SDA)
