Online retailer Galaxus is creating additional logistics capabilities. In addition to the planned logistics locations in Utzenstorf BE and Rafz BE, the Migros subsidiary is also planning a third distribution center in Neuenburg am Rhein in southern Germany.
The reason for the move is that the approval process for Swiss projects still needs “some time”. To avoid capacity bottlenecks in the medium term, Galaxus announced on Wednesday that it was “exploring viable alternatives outside Switzerland in the short term.”
The newly planned Neuenburg am Rhein location will have approximately 90,000 square meters of storage space. The capacity therefore roughly corresponds to the current warehouse location at Wohlen AG. Commissioning is planned to be phased between 2025 and 2028. At the same time, we are working “hard” on approvals for the construction of the Utzenstorf and Rafz locations in Switzerland. (oops)
