Blick reader Sandro B.* (38) is having a problem with his overseas payments. He calls his bank, UBS. Something quick? The exact opposite! B. waits on the line for over an hour before a UBS employee finally helps him with his problem.

“The call center worker told me that long wait times are common these days,” says B. “I can’t stay on hold for an hour!” he says angrily.

UBS has confirmed that there are currently longer wait times on its helpline. “Contact volume over the last ten days has been above average,” writes a UBS spokesperson.

Customers are informed via a recorded message that longer wait times can sometimes be expected. “There is also the option to schedule a callback to avoid being stuck in a long queue,” says UBS.

Call center staff will be increased

Lines are hot not only at UBS at the moment: a particularly large number of people come to their banks at the beginning of the year. For example, you want an account statement for your tax return or you want information about various bank products.

UBS promises improvements: “Additional staff has been hired to prevent such bottlenecks in the future and reduce waiting times,” the bank says.

Sandro B. can no longer benefit from this. Now his concern has been resolved. If it can be avoided, he probably won’t contact the UBS call center as quickly after this experience.
