Health costs in compulsory health insurance (OKP) increased by 4.6 percent in 2023.

According to the research conducted by the Curafutura association, health costs in compulsory health insurance (OKP) increased by 4.6 percent in 2023 compared to the previous year. The gross cost per insured therefore amounted to 4,513 francs.

Costs increased the most in physiotherapy, with an increase of 7 percent. Curafutura said in a statement on Saturday that this was due to a long-term trend due to the implementation of more conservative treatments.

Spitex’s costs are increasing

In the area of assistance and care outside hospital (Spitex) costs also increased by 6.1 percent. A significant increase was also recorded in the inpatient hospital sector, with a 5.3 percent increase in costs. This is unexpected because the trend is moving from inpatient to outpatient care. More and more operations can be performed on an outpatient basis. Drug costs also increased by 4 percent in 2023 compared to the previous year.

For comparison: A 2.6 percent cost increase was recorded in 2022 compared to the previous year. (SDA/wgr)
