The Swiss Association of Cantonal Chemists (VKCS) wrote in a statement on Wednesday that the poor oil quality (8.5 percent) in 104 food companies is unsatisfactory because the quality of oil is quite easy to control.

According to VKCS, the highest rate of bad frying oil was in the snacks, takeaway and food trucks category with 12.7 percent. This category of companies also performed the worst when it came to the lack of regulations regarding the processing of frying oil. Such arrangements were missing in two-fifths.

The press release stated that frying oil was normal in all 97 companies examined in the category of staff restaurants, canteens, hospitals and homes, as well as bakeries.

As part of the VKCS campaign, 1,223 fryers belonging to food companies in Switzerland were inspected. (SDA)
